Scope
CORPES09 is an interdisciplinary workshop, whose scope is situated at the crossroads between angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and many-body theories of strongly correlated electron systems. The program will be a balanced fusion of currently well-established and newly emerging topics, with ample time for discussions.
Main topics
Advances in experimental ARPES techniques- Time-resolved measurements
- Two-photon photoemission
- New photon sources such as UV lasers, soft-X-ray synchrotron radiation sources and free-electron lasers
- New methods, such as continuous-time quantum Monte-Carlo algorithms
- Electron-boson coupling
- Momentum-dependent self-energy function
- Strong correlations beyond the quasiparticle picture
- Quantum criticality and competing order parameters
- Non-Fermi-liquid behaviour in one- and higher-dimensional systems
- Revision of the sudden approximation in the low photon energy regime
- Multi-photon processes
- One-step theory in the presence of correlations
- Matrix elements including the polarization and final-state effects
- Methods to increase bulk sensitivity
- Relation of the electron removal spectrum to other correlation functions
- Doped Mott insulators and pseudogap phenomena
- d-electron systems, including iron pnictates, cobaltates, manganates and cuprates
- f-electron systems and fermiology in the presence of extreme mass enhancement
- 4f and 5f shells in the presence of hybridisation
- Surfaces, polar surfaces, interfaces and systems manipulated in-situ
- Low-dimensional correlated systems, including impurities, nanostructures, quantum wells and quantum dots
Motivation
CORPES09 follows the scope and motivation of the previous workshops CORPES05 and CORPES07 held at MPIPKS in Dresden. Due to a growing interest in the workshop, the number of participants will be increased to 150. We will preserve the workshop spirit, i.e., a linear schedule without parallel sessions. The program will be a balanced fusion of well established and newly emerging topics, with 20 min talks, poster sessions, and ample time for discussions.
Participants of the workshop and the oral presentations will be selected after the abstract submission deadline. All participants will be able to present a poster, with a possibility of a short oral introduction at poster flash sessions.
